Proving power of Social Media. Models for new fashion collection Jonah by Noel Caleb get hundreds "Likes" in first 24 hours

Noel Caleb, Jonah fashion collection Model Blogger Blondie Asian, Singapore
Blondie Asian - Model Blogger #7

It's been only 24 hours since Noel Caleb announced results of Model X Blogger Search, we were writing about last time, but one of 16 models, Elaine Jasmine under #5, chosen for Noel Caleb new clothes collection Jonah runway show, already got 150 Likes from Fans, who supported her within models competition.

Noel Caleb new clothes collection Jonah is brought by cohort of on-line store run Associates Programme 2012 participants Singaporean Loretta Chen, Indonesian Katarina Ketty Yeo and Russian Sophie Ksenia. According to Noel Caleb announcement, Jonah is "based on a character which is defiant and gone through many stormy episodes in life due to her rebellious nature to finally learn".
On the 19th of February Noel Caleb handled Model X Blogger Search at their venue @ The Co, where models were required to to make couple of shoots, walk down the stairs and record thirty second bio about themselves and why do they are interested in Noel Caleb runway.
As a result, 13 models and 3 bloggers were listed at the Noel Caleb Fanpage in Facebook to run Jonah fashion show, that will be part of CoverShot Girl 2013 Competition Final Night by new on-line magazine and goodies portal OMG Paradise @ Zouk from 6pm to 10 pm on the 23rd of March, where Noel Caleb will be presented in judges panel.
Noel Caleb also run their own competition between chosen models, as girls can win 300S$ by getting the most "Likes" on their photo on Noel Caleb's Fanpage. As a requirement users should "Like" on-line store Fanpage as well as photo. And participants really confirm the power of social media and show creativity, trying to get "Likes". As for example, one of video bloggers Sulastri Kamis (nickname Luin Faniel) created Youtube post, asking all her followers for support. Model #3 Clarissa Cattleya shared her picture asking for voices, because of her coming birthday. As numbers raised to hundreds already first day of competition, it's hard to imagine, how many thousands "Likes" will have winning Model, who will be announced on the 23rd of March.
Besides chance to run the show, every model will be given complimentary clothes as an exchange as well as photos and videos worth 500S$.
As promised, we will be reporting about models competition, as well as about preparation to runway and show evening itself, as Blondie Asian is credited by Noel Caleb to debut at runway and you can vote for model #7 on Fanpage. But bloggers role is always to review things, so we will be happy to report about inside of model, fashion and runway life. For two other bloggers chosen for runway, Sulastri Kamis #15, who run Youtube channel, and Juliana Chong #11, who run IloveBunny and recently launched web-site HoneyzCube, it will be also first time to be a model. So we are very excited to cover the project and deliver you all insights about models life.
You can expect updates on the 5th of March, as it will be first models gathering, training and catwalk, as well as reports from rehearsals on the 20th - 22nd of March and, of course, the hottest updates from general repetition at the morning of 23rd of March from the venue in Zouk.
For those, who are interested to join Associates Programme 2013, please rush to sign up, as half year schedule has been released and weekly workshops, meetings, sharing sessions started at the beginning of February and will last until 5th of August 2013.

Face recognition comes to digital billboards advertising - new are of real target marketing! Choices for Girls campaign by PlanUK

Let's say, It's been a year, since Plan UK outdoor campaign was launched in London on the 22nd of February. They put digital screens at bus stop in Oxford Street, that had HD camera and face recognition software, that was able to identify features of the watcher and show customized advertising.

There were some controversial discussions doing on around the topic of campaign, as basically the initial message from Plan UK was aimed to attract attention to 'basic choices get taken away' from women and girls in different societies and countries. But some of the critics pointed, that not only girls get their opportunities cut, but also males. It's connected to food, education, religion, poverty issues, and suffering from, for example, hunger, all human are the same - no matter gender, ages or skin color.
But my attention was particularly attracted by the fact, that using programs and devices advertisers could customize outdoor promotion for concrete person. Moreover, they were able to recognize and fix reaction towards shown video advertising. That brings marketing the new level, when it stops to be something unmeasured and measurable, something, that some business owner don't want to lose money for, as they can't exactly estimate the effect. With digital screens and cameras it's possible now to count how many viewers actually liked promotion, express interest towards subject or even shown attitude to buy products.
So all marketing specialist - be aware and keep an eye, now you can be asked for results and measurement, that will be done not by prospective counting, but by real people, who are going to face your products. We are going to track development of that features and tell you more soon. Stay tuned!

Mobile CrApps by Compuware - discussing bad users experience for better at Mobile Mondays @ The Hub Singapore

Mobile Mondays, Momo, Mobile Crapps, Compuware, the hub, Singapore
Shabbir Boliwala Speaking about bad apps experience, Mobile CrApps

Mobile Mondays - recently found community for mobile market professionals and monthly Meetup group run by Chris Chandler, gathered on the 18th of February, for the second time in 2013, for unusual hangout under Mobile CrApps topic by Compuware @ The Hub Singapore.

With increasing demand for mobile applications, that will allow users to experience on-line from devices the same as from stationary computers and laptops, it's very important to make sure, that newly developed and launched tools are running properly helping brands to reach their clients and to build mobile based communications. Mobile users by default expect, that applications they download will be the same convenient, fast and comfortable to use as mobiles itself. As according to Equation Research, "71 percent of mobile web users expect web-site performance on their mobile phones to be equal to, or better than, what they experience on their desktops". With diversity of mobile platforms  models, screen sizes, resolutions available at consumer electronics market today, it's very important to make sure, that applications are suitable for every device.
Shabbir Boliwala, Compuware's Solution Sales Director in ASEAN Region, shared companies search results and analysed samples regarding typical reasons of users unsatisfactory with applications, as according to Equation Research, "47 percent of mobile users encountered a problem when accessing an application on their phones. Slow load time was the number one issue, closely followed by applications that crashed, froze or displayed an error". Meeting difficulties in accessing applications, users will quit the program and do not return to use it again or wouldn't try to fix the issue by themselves or search why there are errors, they also wouldn't call technical or customer support to report issue or get help, unless it's life saving kind of application, that is important in everyday life. Instead of that, people will project their unsatisfation on brand, products, apps developer, that are connected to it, which will damage the image and have negative effect on users attitude towards brand. Moreover, with easy access to Internet, social media and different channels, users are tend to spread their bad experience to others, reaching not only small communities of friends and relatives, but also colleagues, professionals and other clients of the brand they had bad experience with. So referring to Mobile CrApps event headline, the main point we suggest to brands and companies to stand for is don't gamble "with customer layalty by delivering bad experience". Once launched bad tested application will ruin not only brands and companies image in eyes of customers, but also will deprive reputation and credit towards web-developer.
Guest speakers Aileen Sim - BillPin, Erwan Macé - Bitsmedia and Kieran Weston from TigerSpike, who developed The Economist for iPad & Android, Saud Sultan from Microusability shared their experience of patient work on applications developing, testing and perfection with meetup moderator Jerry Tan from Compuware.
The atmosphere of the MoMo was overwelming with guests and speakers sharing their experience and thoughts for better. Event ended up with nw contact and connections established, which maked everybody to look forward for next meetup under Mobile Mondays.
If you missed event, Compuware presentation is available on-line
One of the guest speakers and application developers Aileen Sim also put some of her thought in readable format
Check out Photos from the Mobile CrApp, as you may see, that your colleagues are already there, that is one more reason to join Mobile Mondays next time.

It also gives to art community and public in general great overview of art tendencies development, as freshly graduated today, in 10 years young artists will rule the art scene in Singapore, whole Asia and even the World.

So this week wasn't exception and brought new piece to think about for all art lovers, who could enjoy opening of three different exhibitions @ ICA Galleries. First collective exhibition "The Art Incubator 4" combining installations, series of photographs and even live performance, we were observing in previous post, was result of year residence program for three young artists Mintio, Ang Soo Koon and Bani Haykal. You can shift between borders until 6th of March at TriSpace Gallery, #B1-05 @ ICA
"Parallax Between_Borders: Singapore_China" is also mixed-arts exhibition, reviewing borders not between surfaces, but between countries. Five Singaporean artists – Jeremy Hiah, Urich Lau, Lim Shengen, Sai Hua Kuan and Teow Yue Han – travelled to the Northeastern borders of China in the provinces of Jilin and Liaoning in June to July 2012. From the border near Hunchun City, where they could see landscapes of Primorsky Krai (Russia) and North Hamgyong (North Korea), they were guided by Chinese artist Cheng Guangfeng to Sino-Korean Friendship "Broken Bridge", that was connecting North Korean Sinŭiju and Chinese Dandong. The documentary, reflecting details of the trip between China, Russia and North Korea, formed the base for "Mirror of Otherness", a group exhibition in Gaodi Gallery in Chinese Shenyang. "Mirror of Otherness" also included the works of Chinese artists Cheng Guangfeng, Liu Yonghong, Shen Shaomin and Yan Shi. Singapore version of exhibition "Parallax", curated by Zhang Yadong and Urich Lau, reflects relationships between cultures and cross-countries communications. To surfe between borders, visit ICA Gallery 1, #B1-04 until 27th of February.  There will be also curators tour handled on the 20th of February from 3 to 4 pm.

Forth Art Incubator finished with artists performances and photographs exhibition at Lasalle

The Art Incubator, Lasalle, Singapore, Ang Sookoon, Excorcise me
Exorcise me by Ang Sookoon, The Art Incubator

Guiding young talents through their studies Lasalle College of Art is also giving them opportunities to get inspired and work in other countries, and then to show their ideas to public and art community. The forth year of "The Art Incubator" residency program resulted with the group exhibition, opened at Brother Joseph McNally Gallery on the eve of 14th February.

Starting from 2009 "The Art Incubator" gave opportunity to develop themselves to 13 Singaporean artists, with Ang Soo Koon, Mintio, and Bani Hayka, who were chosen in February 2012 among other candidates and successfully completed their residencies with Objectifs (Singapore), Grey Projects (Singapore) and Platform3 (Bandung, Indonesia) respectively. Jennifer Lam was curator-in-residence.
Series of photographs "Exorcise me" by Ang Soo Koon and live performance, that was held at the opening of exhibition, are reflecting artists experience of turning from child to teenager and then to adult. It discuss the unease of accepting of new emotions and feelings and the process of loosing fears.
Mintio's "Astrometric archive" is also series comparisons between city lights and space objects. Photographs taken with telescopic equipment gives illusions and mix nature and human-made, washing out borders between stars and lamps, so viewer is loosing feeling of reality and can't determine, whether it's real nature creation or just fluorescent light of the streets.
Bani Haykal is continuing to experiment with the music, voices, noises of the city and sound itself. Another part of his project work "Inside the Subject" installation became exhibition itself and was opened on the 7th February at ICA Gallery 2 with the artist's speech and performance.
Check out, what was grwon by Incubator this year, visit Brother Joseph McNally Gallery @ ICA, Lasalle until 3rd of March.
