Young, talented, passionate - Ashley Ann Tan in Joy Forever

Young Singaporean artist Ashley Ann Tan donated 15 of her paintings to Joy Forever - Christmas Surprise from Nikei exhibition to support Children's Society.

 8th of December Nikei Art Gallery in Raffles Hotel featured works of 7 years old Ashley, who gave her works to the Gallery and will be transferring funds from purchases for other children, who are in need. Young artist is specializing in floral paintings, but some other works are truly showing children interests - panel with ice-cream and sweets, cats. 

   At the opening event 4.500S$ were raised to the fund and some works were taken to collections immediately. Ashley's passion attracted attention of media, her action was covered by local Lian He Wan Bao, The New Paper and Singapore Art Gallery Guide. 

    Works will be shown at the Gallery until 25th December together with works of other artists within Joy Forever exhibition, including MINEKO and Masaki Kondo (Mother and Son - Japan), Ryo Yoshikawa (Japan), Yumiko Sakurai (Japan), Ryoko Kato (Japan), Zhou Hao(China) and Laila Azra (Indonesia).

   As a sweet note, Nikei is one of the key Galleries in Singapore introducing Japanese art to the World. And it's absolutely worthy to have a look at unique style and technique of Ryo Yoshikawa's works, who is playing with shadows and colors introversion, as well as Mineko's sensitive ability to capture and sketch intangible people's feelings and facial expressions, mimics and talking poses. Mother's almost miniature sketches are framed by son, who is creating wood furniture. Nikei is also surprising Singapore, showing, that Japanese art is not only about comics, but also strong impressionism tradition with a lot of artists expressing themselves in paintings and sculpture. 

   Nikei is not only introducing Japanese art to Singapore, but also connecting generations of artists featuring works of young Singaporean Ashley Tan at one space with the works of 99 years old Japanese impression Toko Shinoda, who is turning 100 next March and is already alive legend.

  Joy Forever - Christmas Surprise from Nikei is displaying works, that can be perfect Christmas presents for close friends and family and even sweet treatment for yourself, that will please your eyes, when you are resting at home after work, sitting with the glass of vine. And this present will last you not only whole next year, but years and decades more.

Singapore is finally becoming place, where art lovers can buy pieces from internationally famous artists. Bartoux-Galleries opening branch in Singapore are just confirming, that the Merlion city is Asian center for art lovers and artists from all around the world to meet and exchange culture experience.

  Joseph Klibansky, who spend a lot of time in New York, was explaining to the guests his idea of placing whole world to one panel, showing old style Chinese boats at the lake, together with Thai and Vietnamese floating market vendors, surrounded by modern city high skapers and office buildings with world famous logos, streets full of "white shirts" rushing to get taxi.

  Special interest got doggies, pandas and bears bronze figure paintings by Julien Marinetti, that were named as the cuttiest pieces among all art presented.

  Gallery will be featuring such collections as Asian warriors and thinkers bronze sculptures by Paul Beckrich, paintings by Fernando Botero, range of famous public figures in bronze by Bruno Catalano, human bronze figures by Etienne, art works by Roy Lichtenstein, oil paintings by Feng Zhengjie and many other world famous authors.

23-25th Nov 12 there was WOMEИS Fashion week at Shoppers - Marina Bay, that had couple of great runaway shows for those who are on track with latest Fashion collections.

I went for Bread & Butter runaway on Friday 23rd, that presented quite good collection everyday outfits mainly for youngsters and teenagers. Not really office style, more street hangout, anyway, have a look.
Second show took part on Sunday eve - 25th: 6Five Barcode ft Pierre Balmain were presenting their collection for young people, couple of good color combinations like apricot skirt with black blazer and remarkable dresses were noticed. Have a look @ couple of pictures below.

Idyllic life to dream about, when you are tired of running life

Living in Asia and missing Europe culture and life, architecture and people makes me not only to watch my pictures from that trips, reread my notes about it (see below posts in Russian), but also encourage me to recall my memories about lovely days of work spent in my favorite region - North of Italy I've visited in Feb 2009 Aug 2010 for business and vacations.

I had couple of trips to visit that region between Venice, Bologna, Verona, Ferraro, Parma, Milan. Indeed today I want to share my impressions not about that quite touristic places, but about small idyllic town Castel Franco Emilia (20 mins by train from Bologna in Modena direction) I've spent couple of days at, that will stay forever in my heart as place, where people are enjoying life 24 hours. This is my ideal destination, when I finish my crazy travelling around the world and decide to settle down at my 70th...

There I had view to the mountains from my balcony at the 3rd floor and there were no higher buildings around. There I first time discovered, that Italians don't eat pizza by pieces and to test new place you should order Margarita, that is simplest but the base and tomato pasta will tell you everything about chef's master. The thinner the crust and the crispier pizza mean more skillful pizza-maker. There I first time ate 40 sm diameter pizza and still could eat desert easily. There I discovered, that lees ingridients in pizza make it more delicious, so Frutti di Mare and Quattro Formaggi are my all time favorite. I ate it in small family Tratoria, that was opened only for lunch and dinner time and oven was placed inside the sala, so you could easily see, how your lunch is made. In that small tavern I discovered, that espresso comes after desert to finish meel. I wanted big cup of coffee, like we are used to have to drink it with desert, so upon request I got water in separated cup to espresso, but just imagine, how big was my dissapointment, when i added water to coffee and discovered, that now I have just warm drink, because water in cup was cold! Then I got, why waiter was so surprised with my water request. He just thought? that I'm not used to strong coffee and feel thirsty after it (actually after good coffee you should have this feeling).

Enjoying after lunch sleep in north Italy

Walking by the main street after lunch first time in my life I felt, that people are enjoying life 24 hours, that office and money earned can be placed as second priority and it's totally worthy to enjoy rest after lunch, so even shops have opening hours from 9 to 12, then from 4 to 8, as lunch is from 12 to 2 and siesta is from 2 to 4. Usually whole town will be sleeping or enjoying sun outside, old people will play table games at the main square or watch aliens like me walking around the city. It's also great time to think about life, as glass of light vine drank during the lunch easily will put you to this mood.
As for vine, that time I first discovered, that best vine is from local makers - it's even not packed in bottles and just put at the table in carafe with the wide mouth. I also discovered, that young vine with bubbles is easy and pleasant to drink and also I found my favorite vine Chianti here, that I still prefer to any other. Actually this young almost homemade vine in carafes for only 8 euro for liter is cheaper than the cost of empty bottle it will be put month after... After dinner - deserts - trembling light panna cotta, cold cream brule under the  just burned crunchy crust... Italians probably know, that way to women heart leads through the stomach...

And after dinner, when it's dark - it's time for gelato - from special Gelaterria, of course. Here I found the best ice-cream I ever tried - homemade and sold at the first floor of the house, while the family is living upstairs. I tried different flavors and chosen Margarita named by grandmother, who created that taste using real Nutella as ingredient. It was not really possible to buy less than pint and all was finished right after!

Lifestyle I saw in this small Italian town, food I tried, vine I drank are still ideal scenario for my life, when I get tired of highskapers, people crowds and running life.

Египет - такая знакомая и ставшая почти российским югом страна, такая пустынная и жаркая, где уже давно есть русские отели, улицы на базарах, русские курорты и города… 

Призывы имамов к молитве слышны в любом уголке страны 5 раз в день

Говоря об Египте каждый думает о своем: кто-то представляет одно из семи Чудес Света – пирамиды, караван верблюдов и бедуинов, закутанных с ног до головы, кальян, мерцающий угольками в непроглядной ночи, или уходящие далеко за горизонт пески, над которыми воздух двигается, создавая причудливые тени и формы. Кто-то похвастается, что попал в песчаную бурю, кто-то гордится собой на фоне Сфинкса, кто-то плавал бок о бок с аллигаторами… Любители воздушных и водных ванн несомненно вспомнят шикарные пятизвездочные отели и бассейны с голубой водой и барами со ставшим уже по умолчанию или огни Каира и базары с маленькими магазинчиками и загорелыми торговцами. Но сколько бы раз мы там не были, никогда не откажемся поехать еще – прочь от зимних холодов и однообразной работы навстречу февральскому жаркому солнцу и приключениям. Ведь Египет невозможно узнать до конца, можно только окунуться в восточную сказку, а потом ночи напролет снова грезить об этой такой близкой восточной стране на Африканском континенте.

Водные горки помогут забыть домашние заботы

Тот, кто хоть раз побывал в Египте, окунулся в роскошь и отдохнул душой и телом,отведя душу на шведском столе и шезлонгах у бассейна, напрочь забыв о Родине, работе и семейных неурядицах, несомненно поедут за такой же дозой расслабленья и наслажденья еще. Однако, и любителям активного отдыха будет чем заняться в этой загадочной стране: прикоснуться к истории, присоединившись к экскурсии к пирамидам, ощутить себя странником пустыни, совершив сафари на верблюдах, путешествовать по Нилу, наблюдая жизнь на берегу и в воде, посетить городские рынки и торговаться с владельцами лавочек, а потом умиротворенно пить с ними чай… Что может быть привлекательней… Только ночь под открытым небом - сидя на подушках курить кальян и наслаждаться легким ничегонеделаньем.

Вперед - на ловлю осьминогов - на фешенебельной яхте

Сегодня в Египет едут не только за солнцем и морем, но и за природой. Да, да, именно за природными богатствами, которыми буквально переполнено Красное море. Нырять с аквалангом, чтобы понаблюдать за морским миром сегодня можно и без специальной подготовки. А впечатлений даже больше, чем от похода в зоопарк. Морские животные здесь не заперты в клетках, а оттого, наблюдая за ними, просто сливаешься с природой, ощущаешь себя частью этого загадочного параллельного мира, глаз радуется натуральным насыщенным ярким краскам, тело невесомо и не чувствует усталости и жары, время летит незаметно… Любители охотиться могут поймать рыбу, а то и осьминога под руководством опытных рыбаков, всегда знающих правильные места. А какое удовольствие тут же поджарить на гриле и съесть свой улов, а потом нырять, нырять и нырять, каждый раз не веря своим глазам, проверять чистоту воды, благодаря которой видно дно на глубине 25 метров...
Но даже если вы проводили в Египте каждый отпуск последние десять лет, аниматоры каждое лето с нетерпением ждут ваших уже повзрослевших детей, чтобы играть и веселиться с ними, как с родными, а вы уже бывали на всех экскурсиях, которые предлагают местные агентства, вам есть, что еще открыть в Египте... А именно, его близость к Земле обетованной и еще одному чуду природы – Мертвому морю. После отмены виз в Израиль все более популярным становится поездка в Египет… для того, чтобы на день-два совершить головокружительное путешествие в совершенно новый мир… 
Посетить христианские святыни, узнать, как тысячелетиями идет борьба религий, увидеть все библейские сюжеты наяву и прояснить для себя религиозные загадки, таящиеся у вас в душе. Но не только духовно можно обогатиться в Израиле, но и физически. Лечебные грязи Мертвого моря и сам феномен  воды, в которой никто не живет и ничто не переворачивается – вот еще одна причина посетить Израиль. Даже если вы приехали в Египет первый раз и еще не успели осмотреть все древнейшие постройки мира, поездка в Израиль станет для вас возможностью окунуться в новый мир и сравнить, какими разными бывают культуры, обычаи, одежды, религия, еда и нравы стран-соседей.

Как бы вы ни провели время в Египте, будьте уверены, отдохнете вы с удовольствием и вернетесь домой с тысячей впечатлений и непременно запланируете поехать туда в следующий раз.

Продолжение. Северная Италия - Городки с историей... Венеция

Улицы - каналы

Венеция - город романтичный как и Верона, но настолько переполненный туристами, что итальянцы предпочитают селиться в соседней Венеции на материке. Если ехать поездом, то сначала проезжаешь Венецию современную, потом по насыпной дороге перебираешься в старый город, порезанный каналами на тысячи островков и даже островов-домов. 

  Романтика начинается уже в пути, так как поезд как будто скользит по воде, а впереди возвышаются купола соборов, если смотреть направо или налево, то видны другие острова. Каналы начинаются прямо у выхода с вокзала. Чтобы погрузиться в улочки Венеции надо пересечь мост. Тут же можно арендовать катер или гондолу и по Большому и Малому каналам прогуляться прямо до Собора Святого Марка на центральной площади. Мы решили пойти пешком и, петляя по маленьким улочкам, заходили во все лавки и кондитерские, пробовали выпечку и сладости. 

  Странно, но именно в феврале в Венеции устраивают карнавал. Некоторые думают, что это для привлечения туристов, но их в Венеции полно всегда. Просто зимой не чувствуется запаха тины и воды, не давит жара, меньше народу и очереди на осмотр достопримечательностей намного короче. Летом полиция регулирует потоки движения туристов, устраивая односторонне пешее движение по узким улочкам.

  Итак, для карнавала мы купили маски и отправились на поиски главной площади и Собора Святого Марка. Дело это было непростое, так как в Венеции нельзя просто идти напрямик по улицам кратчайшим путем, а тем более срезать по дворам. Некоторые улицы запросто могут оказаться каналами даже без тротуаров. Выйдя пару раз к каналу, то есть, проще говоря, зайдя в тупик. Мы решили больше не рисковать и следовать за потоком туристов, который даже в феврале существенен. 

  Пересекая каналы и петляя между домов, можно ощутить дух города, проникнуться архитектурой и фотографировать каждую частичку города как произведение искусства. Кстати, только в Венеции есть специальный знак, запрещающий писать в каналы. Дорожные знаки здесь трансформировались в канальные, то есть действуют для катеров и гондол. Обгон запрещен, максимальная высота транспортного средства, одностороннее движение, приоритетность движения. Мусор здесь тоже собирают специальные мусорные гондолы…  Вообще, для того, чтобы насладиться Венецией надо смириться с чисто рыбно-морским тинным запахом, преследующим вас везде, даже за едой мяса)))

  И вот мы на площади Святого Марка. Голуби, люди, карнавальные костюмы, башня и нереально красивый собор…  Поддавшись искушению посмотреть на Венецию с высоты птичьего полета, мы отправились вверх на колокольню, которая сохранилась от стоявшего когда-то на площади собора. Сейчас колокольня – вполне современное развлечение для туристов. Наверх вас поднимает скоростной лифт, фотографии панорам на все четыре стороны света объясняют, какой церкви принадлежит тот или иной купол вдали. Аудиогид рассказывает про историю того или иного палаццо. Фотографии получаются обалденные. Неудивительно, что туристам не хочется спускаться обратно на землю и покидать волшебный мир крыш и воды.

Венеция - с высоты птичьего полета

  С тем же аудиогидом можно зайти в Собор Святого марка. Далее пойти в соседний дворец Дожей, по пути фотографируясь с маскарадными фигурами. Удивительно, как дворец сочетает в себе европейский стиль и восточные украшения, даже орнаменты на  фасаде здания делают этот великолепные белый дворец похожим на восточную сказку. Внутри мы любуемся гобеленами, окидываем взглядом интерьеры тех времен, когда Венеция была под властью Дожей. Спускаемся в подземелье, где содержались преступники – петляем по узким переходам и заглядываем в камеры… Набродившись по темным переходам мы неожиданно выныриваем во двор дворца, где нас снова слепит яркое солнце и встречает карнавал. Ряженые здесь гуляют всюду, Солнце и Луна, День и Ночь, Времена Года, короли и принцессы, все это характеры мило танцуют, позируют, играют, создают атмосферу веселья и праздника. 

  При выходе на набережную стоят два столба – здесь раньше казнили преступников и сжигали ведьм. Сейчас это туристический аттракцион – только смельчаки осмеливаются наперекор плохой примете пройти между двумя столбами. Гуляя вдоль по набережной можно полакомиться мороженым или купить сувениров, а можно сесть на паром, который здесь заменяет автобус и другие виды общественного транспорта, и  прокатиться по каналам. Мы решили совершить прогулку на маленьком катере – такси и посмотреть с воды на великолепные дворцы и старинные дома, на церкви и наклонившиеся, как башня в Пизе, колокольни.

 Путешествовать по маленьким городкам северной Италии можно  бесконечно, время летит незаметно, и кажется, что пересмотреть все городки невозможно… С одной стороны, все они одинаковы, с другой стороны, они такие разные, что не хочется пропустить ни одного. А уехав отсюда, начинаешь скучать с первой минуты разлуки.
