Businesses are meant to be not only to make profit, but also to benefit society, active drivers of Singapore on-line clothes store Noel Caleb decided to contribute their own part and gathered bloggers and social media activists on the eve of 29th January at their fresh home ground @ The Co, new built office space at 75, High Street, that will give home mostly for non-profit organizations and start-ups.
The Co, which will be officially launched on the 1st of March, has very modern space design and comfortable free hang-out area at the basement, that will be opened for everybody as a space to work, exchange ideas and do sharing sessions. First event, handled there by Noel Caleb, brought together around 15 bloggers, whose interest is mostly in fashion, style and beauty, few of their friends joined in order to know more and start blogging journey. Young and socially active, they could get closer and discuss blogging, that they mostly do as a hobby. Instead, guest speaker shared, how she shifted from blogging as her passion to full time job and even full size web-site, planning to work on jewelry line and partnering with famous people for different projects. However, blogging still remains mainly non-profit dairy for most participants, as some of them are busy working full-time and making career or too young to consider it as real job, the youngest social junkie was 14.
Bloggers discussed questions of getting readers trust and credit, as well as how to stay honest being approached by advertisers and companies, who wants to promote through reviews. Questions of transparency and balance between making profit and staying objective, all this get to bloggers with the rise of blog popularity and increasing number of followers, as businesses see blogs as easy ground for target audiences, which are tolerant to speaker and tend to trust. From the other side, bloggers, especially those, who just start their journey, have challenge to make people trust them, get constant readers and followers. This is even more difficult for youngsters, as it's hard to make people, who are elder, to believe, that you are more competent and have more knowledge, for example, about cosmetic market, or can advise on which accessories to chose with particular outfit. Simple solution in this case is just to be as much honest, informative and helpful as you can, bringing information about latest tendencies, news, updates to your readers, then you will become indispensable source of information for them. In fashion and lifestyle it's also a question of similar taste with your followers, who should be on the same pattern with you. But considering wide range of styles today, there is no space to worry, every blogger will get his fellow mates, who share the same thoughts.
During meet-up session bloggers also could check latest clothes and accessories collections by Noel Caleb, talk about fashion trends with buyer and meet new model. All clothes was available for trying, that allowed to make new combinations and try something, that you will never imagine, fits you. Friendly hang-out was organised by WeAreSpaces, who found and arranged new home for Noel Caleb, by partners from @RSociety, Noel Caleb photographers and video producers, as well as host representative from The Co.
Meet-up are promised to be held on fortnight base, bringing together more bloggers with different interest, so who knows, maybe soon it can have movie watching format with professional comments from cinema critic or cooking session from food junkie. Anyway, it's heart warming to think, that businesses care to bring together activists, who have the same passion and it's nice to think, that you are not alone trying to express to share your thoughts in Internet. Others do too.
