Since I first raised the question of using art in every day life visiting "The Sew-Out Show" @ tcc last Friday and then writing about it in my blog, I started to pay attention to different attempts of the artists to implement art in life. At the eve of 22nd of January Hermès Éditeur opened showcase "Couleurs de L'Ombre" - "Colors of Shadow" by Japanese Hiroshi Sugimoto at Tyler Print Institute in Syngapore.
20 of morning sunlights shots captured by Sugimoto for last ten years were chosen by artist and Hermes Editeur Pierre-Alexis Dumas to be printed on silk scarfs. Each shot showing morning lights in various colors, as being captured using different prisms, was printed only in seven copies, forming limited collection of 140 Hermes scarfs 140 x 140 cm. All items are featured and up for purchase at Tyler Print Institute @ 41 Robertson Quay from Tue to Sat from 10am to 6 pm until 2nd of March. There is also daily video screening at 2.30 pm.
"Colors of Shadow" collection is the result of third edition of "carré d’artiste" by Hermes Editors, who launched "Hommage au carré" - "Homages to the Square" by Josef Albers in 2008 and "Photos-souvenirs au carré" - "Squared Photo-Memories" by Daniel Buren in 2010.
